Occupying an area of 13,5 thousand hectares in the municipalities of Ipojuca and Cabo de Santo Agostinho, state of Pernambuco, Suape's Industrial Port Complex lodges, within its territory, residencial houses and smallholdings. The 2009 census pointed out the presence of 6.800 families that live in 27 engenhos, and 2.620 of these families were living in reserved areas of either environmental preservation or industrial enterprise and consolidation. Faced with this situation, Suape's administration began a process of financial compensation and deployment, whenever necessary, to appropriate houses or plots of land, according to the tenants' choices, thus offering adequate assistance along the entire process of relocation.
