Port Structure:

Technical Data

• Depth: from 8 to 30 meters, within the evolution bay, piers and mooring docks.

• Total area of the organized port: 3,232.58 hectares.

• External Port's Evolution Bay: depth, at some places, of 20 meters and width of 1,200m.

• Internal Port's Evolution Bay: depth, at some places, of 15.5 meters and width of 580m.

• Access Channel: 5km long, 300m wide and 16.5m deep. Internal navigation channel 1,430m long and 450m wide.

Internal Port:

Currently, the port has 1.600m of piers and 5 quays in activity, all 15.5m deep.

• Pier 1:
  Being public, it is 275m long and handles mostly containers, general cargo, specially project cargo, vehicles in the ro-ro system, and bagged sugar.

• Pier 2 and 3:
  Private quays which concentrate container movimentation, with 660m of piers leased to Tecon Suape, which is a subsidiary for International Container Terminal Services, Inc. 14.4m of depth on Pier #2 and 11,6m of depth on Pier #3. It is equiped with 2 Super Post Panamax portainers, 2 Post Panamax portainers and 2 Panamax portainers. An overall of 600m of piers with movimentation capacity of 700,000 containers a year.

• Pier 4:
  It is public and is 350m long. Currently, it handles general cargo, especially project cargo, steel products, bulk wheat and vehicles through the ro-ro system. Equipped with one portalino and a conveyor-belt that is 1,7km long, which was built to link this pier with Bunge Foods' wheat mill.

• Pier 5:
  It is public and 343m long. The quay is destined to general cargo and solid bulk. Among the prevailing cargo are: project cargo, vehicles on the ro-ro system, bagged sugar, steel products, slag and clinker. It is equipped with one MHC Liebherr crane (TSUA Port Operations).

Tecon –Suape:

• Structure: Use of 3 quays in with a total of 935m of length, being 660m of its own pier (leased), and using 275m of public piers.

• Draught: 14,5m

• Access Channel: 250m wide and 16,5m deep.

External Port:

Has an "L" shaped breakwater 3,100m long, and shelters 4 liquid bulk piers (PGL 1, PGL 2, PGL 3A and PGL 3B), a multiple use pier and 1 floating GLP tank.

• Liquid Bulk Pier - PGL 1
  300m long, plus two quays for 200m long ships. The east quay is 12.7m deep and the west one is 12.9m deep, both for the anchoring of 45,000 deadweight ton ships (TDW) Its central platform is 85m long and 25m wide, has 4 dolphins and an access bridge for the pipeline used for liquid bulk transport. It is operated by oversleeves (mangotes).

• Liquid Bulk Pier - PGL 2
  390m long, with two quays for ships; the west one being 13.5m deep and the east one being 12.6m deep, supporting ships of up to 90,000 deadweight tons (TDW). It has a 46m long and 30m wide platform with 10 dolphins for mooring and anchoring. Both are operated by companies authorized by the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), and pre-qualified by Suape's Port. It is also equipped with 12 mechanic arms.

• Liquid Bulk Pier - PGL 3A
  Serves oil tankers of up to 110,000 deadweight tons (TDW), being 12.7m deep with an evolution bay 20m deep in some locations. Has seven loading arms and operates ships of the Aframax type.

• Liquid Bulk Pier - PGL 3B
  Receives oil tankers of up to 170,000 deadweight tons, being 17.7m deep and having an evolution bay 20m deep in some locations. Has 5 loading arms and operates Aframax and Suexmax type ships.

• Multiple Use Pier - CMU
  Serves ships with up to 80 deadweight tons (TPB). It is 10.2m deep in its west quay and 14m deep in its east quay, with a 343m long and 39m wide operation platform. It is equipped with 2 shiploaders for petroleum coke and bunker ducts, and for the movimentation of fuel oil and vegetable oil.

• Floating GLP Tank
  Carried out by a 45,000 deadweight ton refrigerated ship with a 75,000m³ capacity, serving alongside ships of equal size. The tanking system is currently docked at PGL 2.

Operation:

• Main Products Handled - Liquid Bulk (petroleum and its derivatives, being the most movimented: diesel, gasoline, LPG, aviation kerosene, aviation gasoline, fuel oil for bunkers and thermoelectric power plants, petrochemical nafta, chemical products, types of alcohol, vegetable oils, etc.), general cargo containers (for vehicles, in the ro-ro system, wind power cargo, bagged sugar, steel sheets), solid bulk (wheat, clinker and slag).

• Patio Control Software, for ships and/or simulation/optimization - To serve ships, we use Marine Traffic's AIS (automatic identification system), and we are studying possible softwares to be used in the management of traffic and operations. To manage public patios we use SARA, which is certified by the Federal Revenue, for the management of people, transport vehicles and product movimentation (imported and exported vehicles are products) within customs areas.
