Suape Port's area of influence currently consists of the entire state of Pernambuco, and extends to the states of Paraíba, Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará, and even  into Maranhão. With the implantation of the Transnordestina road,  new cargo is expected to be demanded from the port, in addition to those handled by other terminals to be implanted, which will cause an expansion of its hinterland.

The following are the expected cargos and their origin/destination:

• Iron ore from Paulista (PI);

• Gypsum from Araripina, on the border between Pernambuco and Piauí;

• Soy from southern Piauí and the region of Barreiras in Bahia;

• Fertilizer, for soy producing areas;

• Sugar from Pernambuco;

• Automobiles (importation) with destination towards Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará.

Thus, Suape's hinterland is expected to be expanded to the states of Piauí and to the region of Barreiras, in Bahia.
