| LGP-1 (Liquid Granary
Pier)
Serves ships of up to 45,000 TPB.
Its operation platform is 84m long
and 25m wide with depths of 14m at
both the east and west-side berths.
There are 4 lateral "dolphins" linked
to the sea wall by way of an access
bridge upon which are situated the
pipes designed for transporting liquid
granaries either coming from or going
to the tankage park located in the
backport.
There are 10 mechanical
arms for loading and unloading the
liquid granary, 5 per berth and each
with a capacity of 1000 m3/h. The
entire port operation is currently
carried out by Petrobras and other
qualified operators linked to the
gas and alcohol terminals.
LGP-2
The second Liquid Granary
Pier (LGP2), constructed at the external
port of Suape, was concluded in May
2001 and inaugurated on June 19,
2001. It allows the operation of
two ships simultaneously with the
following characteristics:
• Brute
size: 90.000 tpb
• Maximum draft:
14.50 meters
• Total length:
266 meters
• Maximum width:
39 meters
The LGP2 was developed at an orthogonal
axis to the sea wall of the external
port, with a roadway access bridge,
operation platform and docking and
mooring "dolphins" with
the following characteristics:
• Bridge:
213.20m long, 4.2m roller track and
lateral passage 1.2m wide.
• Platform:
45m long and 32m wide.
• Dolphins:
a total of 10, 4 for docking and
6 for mooring.
• Total length:
386.20m, including passages between
dolphins
Structure of the facility:
Foundation
on cylindrical concrete pillars (219
units) of 0.8m in diameter. The overall
budget was R$ 9,827,417.17.
A GLP (cooking gas) 41,000-ton floating
tanker, implanted in July 1993 next
to the harbor wall contributed toward
increasing the annual movement of
liquid granary from 1.2 million tons
in 1991 to over 3.6 million tons in
1998 by way of "ship-to-ship"
transferences, thus serving the supply
needs throughout the North and Northeast
Regions of Brazil, including Manaus.
