New Container Terminal

The new container terminal, the second to be set up at the Suape Port, will be built in a 900 m. area of dock (with 2 berth for mooring) and a retro-area of 250 thousand m2, with possibility of expansion of the area. The terminal will have a capacity designated to move between 1 and 1.2 million TEUs (unit of measurement equivalent to 20 feet) per year. In addition to the current capacity of the Suape Container Terminal, the port will be fit to handle 1.7 million TEUs/year. The planned investment is R$ 1 billion, for the construction of quays and berths, dredging, installation of equipment and retroarea.

On April 4, 2017, Suape's administrative board released a bidding notice to upgrade Container Terminal 2 Technical and Economic Feasibility Studies (EVTEF). The winner of the bid shall have 90 days, extendable for an equal period of time, after the signing of the Authorization of Services to present such studies. The terms of reference and the bidding notice are available at www.compras.pe.gov.br. The studies will be developed in partnership with the Planning and Logistics Company (EPL), linked to the Federal Government's Partnership and Investment Program (PPI)..  The winning bidder will have 90 days,  extendable for an equal period of time, after the signing of the Service Authorization Order, to deliver the studies.  The terms of reference and the public notice are available at the link www.compras.pe.gov.br. The studies will be developed in partnership with EPL (Logistics and Planning Enterprise), linked to the Federal Government's Partnerships and Investments Program (PPI).

The first studies on the new Container Terminal were sent to the Secretariat of Ports of the Presidency of the Republic in 2012, prior to the enactment of the New Law of Ports (12,815 / 2013), which centralized ali decisions and procedures on concessions and leases of port areas at federal bodies. After updating and approving said EVTEF, Suape must hold a public hearing by the end of the year. If the above requirements are met within the deadlines, the Container Terminal 2 bidding should happen in the first half of 2018.
